The sapphire is most known for it’s superb and profound bleu color. Although, this corindon exists in a multitude of colors, except for the red. In that case it would be ruby. The ruby like the sapphire, is a member of the corindons family. The most beautiful specimens come from the mines of Mogok in Burma. The most sought after color is blood red. This gem is very rare and very much sought after by jewelers to put in value a broche, a ring, a necklace, a bracelet, or for earrings. It’s clarity varies from VVS (very rare, and more expensive if over 4 carats than a white diamond) to opaque. Color from deep pink, passing thru vivid red, purple, until a dull bronish-red. The coloration to the ruby is due to the chrome, accompanied sometimes with iron.
